So when do people meet up for a stargazing bonanza? Is there a certain thread for different areas?

Plenty of astro groups near you..The biggies are SGL parties (look for thread on SGL starparties and the upcoming SGL X) and Kelling Heath.

Hi Puglets,

No worries, great place this, plenty of great advice. No stupid questions here. If you have not done so download a planetarium prog. Plenty out there but try stellarium its great and free. To be found here :--- http://www.stellarium.org/  , and try a copy of 'sky&telescope pocket star atlas'.

also check out the South Wales group on the social thread. They hold group meets up in blaenavon, their very informal and friendly just like most welsh people and astronomers are. There's. Meet coming up mid march, check the thread you'd be more than welcome
