You've got to get it when you can!

So, it's been a while since I've seen the GRS on Jupiter. Last week I had a look at a timetable of when the GRS would be transiting at a reasonable time.

Thursday, Saturday & today.

Thursday and Saturday were both clouded out, but tonight started out clear, then in came the high thin cloud.

My session started at 19:05

I found Jupiter with the finder scope, moved on to the 32mm ep and quickly sketched the bands on the disc and the position of the four moons.

Looking up from the ep I saw thicker clouds moving in. So I changed to my 7mm ep and had another look. The GRS was clearly visible so I made another quick sketch, just in time for the thick cloud to cover the disc.

My session finished at 19:22!

17 minutes!

Still I got to see Jupiter and the GRS which I hadn't seen for a while.

It just goes to show, you've got to get it when you can!
