Counrterbalance Weight

I want to use an light Telescope sometimes on my Equatorial Mount and the 2 KG weight is too heavy to balance, Does anyone know where I can obtain a lighter one. At the moment I have to add weight to the OTA.

A good place to try for weights of a range of sizes is a sports shop. Just take your counterbalance bar along to check the hole size.

I had a similar query Robin, and so I got some old disc weights. Only downside is the weights don't have locking screws. Because I am increasing the weight on my scope, I can just use the locking mechanism on the existing weight to hold all the others on. But as you want to decrease the overall weight, you may need to find some way of holding the weights on the shaft... just a thought...

Only downside is the weights don't have locking screws.

The smaller weights do have locking screws. This is what Robin wants I think. The larger weights are clamped between a couple of locking collars. No way are weights just allowed to slide along the bars and potentially injure people.

In this case a couple of the locking collars may even do the job.

for weightlifting i have some spring loaded locks that you squeeze and open the gap slide them on then release and they lock in position.
