Jupiter Festoons 05-02-15

The GRS is on the other side of the planet at the moment but there are some nice festoons coming off the NEB and into the EQ zone at the moment. One of them gives the impression of tailing off "the wrong way" around the planet :undecided:

I'm not sure if thats even possible and it may well be me misinterpreting what I'm seeing. If anyone else is observing Jupiter this evening I'd be interested to hear what you see there :smiley:

The other details are quite nicely defined although it's rather blustery here.

Last time out I noticed how very irregular the belt edges were. Even the very thin bands defining, with a gap, the polar regions showed uneven areas.

Certainly worth keeping an eye on. Last opposition certainly gave lot of festoons. This one looks like cloud belts,a bit closer to home !
