Weird glow from Auriga?

Anybody outside that can see Auriga right now? We have a lot of high cloud but I can see a large glow the size of the moon coming from approx where Capella would be. It's diffuse but quite bright and I've watched it for 5 minutes or so and it's not moving. Completely stationary.

The cloud is blocking a clear view, but whatever it is, it is shining right through the cloud.

Maybe just some local phenomena - but can anyone with a clear view check what they see?

Just been out again and cannot see it now. Perhaps just some visual effect from ice crystals in cloud. It was very obvious while it lasted.

I'm no expert, but given the cold front I'd reckon you're right about ice crystals or similar, high up. There must be some meteorologically-skilled member who can confirm or suggest alternatives...

I have no idea, and more than likely 'barking up the wrong tree' but could they possibly have been noctilucent clouds? There's also an interesting article from NASA about such possible phenomena. Fascinating stuff
