How to connect Atik 460ex to Skywatcher ED80 scope with FF/FR?

Hey All

What adapter(s) do I need to connect an Atik 460ex camera to a Skywatcher ED80 scope with field flattener/focal reducer attached?

I'd like to have the camera attached securely so ideally not with thumbscrews. Is there a method to attach/detach like the DSLR lens attachments that line up with the red dot and screw in 90degs then lock in place with a button/click?

Hi Peroni,

FLO have all you need.

http://www.firstlightoptics.com/adaptors/flo-m48-to-t2-adapter.html

This converts the FF/FR M48 thread to T2 (M42 x 0.75)

Coupled with the 13mm Backfocus of the Atik this will take up 23mm of the 55mm required by the FF/FR.

A combination of fixed and variable T2 extensions will take care of the extra 32mm required and everything will be solidly mounted.

http://www.firstlightoptics.com/adaptors/t2-extension-tube-set.html fixed length extension tubes.

http://www.firstlightoptics.com/adaptors/baader-t2-extension-12-16mm.html variable length for fine tuning.

They will also be usefull in a different combination if you eventually add a filter wheel.

Very nice camera by the way.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Sandy.

Thanks for the info Lonestar. I forgot to say that I would be using this manual filter wheel for narrowband imaging.

Hi Peroni,

Even better then... you would only need the 1st and 3rd items on the previous list since the filter wheel takes up 20mm.

If I recall the tolerance on the SW FF/FR is 55mm min - 57mm max for distance to focal plane from the base of the M48 thread.

Good luck.

Best regards.

Sandy.
