Linux development - OS and IDE?

Just to say the mac mini is running windows 7 then running a virtual machine of kubuntu 64 bit. This has the best of all worlds - it keeps the development junk together and keeps the windows desktop less confusing for Sandrine.

Next up is getting the Yosemite install working on the mini as it's installed.

Meanwhile the MBP's discreet GPU is dying.. leaving the inbuilt GPU.. so I can work with the exception of when the system attempts to switch the GPU (like OpenCL as the Intel HD 3000 inbuilt GPU doesn't support OpenCL).. grrr..

Meanwhile on the MBP the linux version of the drivers is starting to appear

I took my old MBP to Apple when it wouldn't start up, they said the nvidea GPU had died but that it was a manufacturing fault so they replaced the logic board for free. It was well out of warranty at the time too.

Worth checking if you have the same problem.

Apple had to replace the old nVidia-gate GPU models.. this one they've not made a statement on (except replacing the iMac AMD Radeon version..). I'll have a chat with them but it's not going to be before next year..

I believe the Mac Mini's GPU supports OpenCL.. I'm currently building a build environment on the Mac Mini OS X side.. The Linux VM is working nicely under the the windows side
