Well not exactly a cure, but certainly cheered him up;-)

George's uncle has given him a telescope of his own. Boxed and complete with a few signs of being used.

Looking at the box, I'm guessing this is mid 70s, Jap made Carton 60/1000 F16 achro with. 965 RP focuser. I wasn't expecting much when this was first offered, but very pleasently surprised and hopefully some decent views :-)

I'd have killed for one of those as a kid it's a smashing lunar scope a mate had one and I was so envious

It's got a 20mm, 12mm, 8mm and 4mm ep, though I think 250x might be pushing it! Will give it a try tomorrow to align the finder befote it gets dark.

It's actually pretty good even on o nearly full moon. The tripod could do with a bit more weight, the EPs need cleaning and a little adjustment to the R&P. Collimation looked pretty good.

Needless to say george is over the moon
