Any Advice on binoculars?

Does anyone have some advice on a good pair of binoculars for star gazing.  Been out of it for a while and not sure what's on the market.  Thank you.

As always there is a balance on budget, portability and intended use. At the budget end I've had brilliant use and views with the Olympus DPSI 10x50s. At the higher end I rate the Helios Apollos. I have got the 15x85 which are superb. You definitely need a tripod for that kind of size but there are smaller versions.
