Oct 20, 2014: Quick morning peek at the sun in H-alpha

Just had a quick look at the sun and what a view it was. The monster sunspot dominates the eastern limb, with a collection of various smaller spots and loads of boiling, bright plage. A couple of spike-like proms are visible to its east. A bit further north along the same limb a wonderful "filaprom" wraps itself around the limb. On the western limb a bright prom stands out at an acute angle. Several other filaments and the odd smaller spot adorn the disk. Wonderful view, hoping for more later on.

Just had another view during lunchtime. The monster sunspot is still going strong, and the prom on the west seems to have detached. Not flaring or other activity spotted
