As far as I know, the position of the filter is not that critical. The position of  the focal reducer is key with respect to the image plane in the camera is more critical. I used the standard off-axis guider from Celestron behind the reducer, which meant I could not shorten the optical path between camera and reducer sufficiently to insert the LPR filter in between (a clip filter would be ideal), so I put the LPR filter between the focal reducer and scope (SCT mount type filter). This did extend the optical path, but gave me reasonable results.
