Voyager and Viking Programme

Recommended Posts

I am just wondering, programmes such as the voyager and viking travelled such a long distance, taking years to reach their destination, when they send back their signals of image of Mars and the Jovian systems, are the signals lag by years as well?

No, the light travel time for the signals to reach us is only 30 or 40 minutes from Jupiter, or a number of hours from somewhere like Pluto. The images are then processed but basically they are 'current', and not lagging by years
