NGC 891 via gradiant filter

Tried for galaxy NGC 891 low down in Andromeda last night. Bad move! Transparency was poor with NGC 891 deep in London light dome and maybe the scope needed a tweak to even out the field illumination and no flat available as the correct way to remove this defect.

This morning created an artificial gradiant filter with moderate success [below] in recovering a reasonable image!

A = raw image contrast stretched

B = A + 75% Gaussian Blur via PS to remove star images

C = A - B to smooth out image gradiant - actually used B[=negative] +A which does same thing!

D = C cropped full size

Hope my exercise was of interest - still have the dust bunnies!
