Converting negative longitude

I am having trouble getting my telescope to align and I think that if i use the latitude and longitude I will have better results. The only problem is that my phone gives me a negative value for my longitude and I cannot program negative longitude into my telescope. Any know how to covert negative longitude into a positive longitude?

you change the letter in most scopes. take the minus off and change W to E  IIRC.

Have you got access to google earth TOOLS-OPTIONS- 3D View- Show Lat Long? This can help you get exact co-ordinates of your location, by setting Degrees, Minutes, Seconds. Then try and enter these into your telescope. This doesn't sort the phone conversion?

A little more info regarding the equipment would be useful , SkyWatcher , Meade and Celestron all use subtly different formats for the inputs required.

I am using a Mead etc 90 with a Autostar hand controller.

I was looking at my Meade ETX-90 and it looks like all I need to do is to drop the negitive sign. Then changes east to west. I also think the last time I tried to create a coustom site I forgot to put in the correct time zone.

The longitude is the value with West after it.

Somewhere like Portland at -122 becomes 122 W(est).

I presume your timezone is -8 therefore.

Meade do not give a nice map as Celestron do.

My time zone is -7. On a side note If I ever get a chance to get a different scope I am going to go with Celestron.
