microsoft lifecam mod with dead laser collimator

So, i recently picked up a lifecam off fleabay and went to order an adaptor to house it but unfortunately, the place advertised no longer does them, then my diy brain started ticking...

i had an old, dead laser collimator so i stripped it and you know what? the lifecam is an almost perfect fit

not finished, but here's a few pics

the camera and bottom metal endcap need to be inserted first and the inner plastic tube needs pushing in from the other end, and probably gluing in place but it all fits nicely.
