August 13, 2014: Fairly quiet on the sun in H-alpha today, but some nice filaments

Recommended Posts

Just had a look at the sun with the little LS35. Prom-wise the sun was fairly quiet, with a few showing northwards on the western limb. There are many filaments criss-crossing the disk, and on is on the western edge of the disk, so it might extend beyond the limb shortly. A very large filament shows up on the southern part of the disk, and the sunspot to the northeast is still going strong. Many smaller filaments are visible too, and a bright area of plage is possibly one to watch, low on the eastern side of the disk.
