M16 - A tough object at 20 degrees elevation...

M16 is a sort of Nemesis object for me. Only about 2 months a year it peeps over the rooftops and trees and then I can try to image it. The max elevation from here is about 24 degrees, so that's not very good...

Last night it was clear and I decided this could be the opportunity to see if I could catch it. I succeeded in getting 6x900s using the TEC140 and QSI583 with 4,5nm Custom Scientific Ha filter. It was a bit hazy at the low elevations making it even more tough.

I was very surprised when the result showed up. I will clearly try to get more of this one if weather allows the coming few weeks. I love this object!
