r and b mars question?

Hi Folks

Some time ago I had read an article that some imagers, in poorer seeing conditions have used only r and b filters....then they synthesized  green from those two.  I don't have my mono camera and filters yet, but am wondering...have some SGL members used this method, and how is it done?
