Xlt 150 camera setup

Hi all!!

I have just been given a celestron xlt 150 for my 30th birthday which I am loving.

I am now trying to connect my Nikon d5000 to it to take some pics.

After purchasing the celestron t adapter and Nikon t thread and connecting my camera to it, all I can see through the camera is the inside of my telescope, ie the mount which holds the mirror, with a bit of sky at the end. And if I point it at the moon, I just seem to see a blurry ball of bright light?

I just cannot seem to focus on the moon, nor see a decent image of the dark sky?

Have I set it up correctly?

I am very new to this but am going away next week to some of the darkest sky sites in the UK.

I have the camera with t thread on, then the t adapter which slots into my 2" - 1.25" adapter.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The end of the focuser tube should have a t thread. If you attach your t ring directly to this you should be able to reach focus.

I have the same scope so please let me know how you get on with the images as im just looking at getting into the ap side and im curious how they will turn out with this scope.

Still on luck. I was away up north to the darkest skies in the country and tried many times, through the t adapter aswell as straight onto the focuser with the t thread. I have emailed celestron about it....fingers crossed.

I'm probably doing something wrong and am looking foward to my VOILA!! moment.
