Filter for Moon DSLR imaging

Hi, Do I need a IR/uv cut filter or ir pass filter? Slightly confused. I've heard mono cam owners use a IR pass filter.

I'm using a Canon DSLR 1100d. I've so far taken without any filters, and got great results but want to try to get better results. Thanks!

You don't really need them with the DSLR , the built in filters will do the job .

For best results you need to concentrate on the focusing first and foremost , slightly underexpose the subs so as not to blow out the very bright areas and then carefully select the very best frames taken before stacking.

If left to his own devices Uncle Reg will let some rough ones through which will only detract from the final image.

Ok thanks for advice. I think I'm there with my DSLR I've got things very sweet. I have a neodymium filter, but have not tried it yet. I will try it and report back if I get good results. Otherwise thanks for reassuring me.

Here is my latest attempt using a 3x barlow 5 shot mosaic. I will attempt taking more frames to stack next time. Any comments are welcome around how I can improve further? I think now I may have over exposed slightly.
