Replacement Feathertouch coarse and fine focuser for C8 SCTs.

My experience with optical instruments has been concerned mainly with compound and stereo microscopes, also spotting scopes and binoculars. The supplied focussing mechanism with C8s seems on the face of it rather crude in that it is possible to pass through the critical point with a minute movement of the knob. There is a more refined focusser available as an after market addition available from Feathertouch, and the C8 seems to cry out for a fine focussing adjustment. Has anyone fitted one of these to a Celestron C8 and found it to an improvement in the sensitivity of the focussing mechanism?

Yes and a search will find you threads and images of that product. It works well with the C8, but before you spend all that money you might want to try fitting a larger knob over the existing focusing knob as you may find that gived you enough extra 'feel' for fine focusing.

amazingly smooth, just wish i could fit a motor to it at a reasonable price
