Given it's cloudy here tonight, I thought I'd sit down with my glass of wine and play with LP removal in Photoshop. I used a quick snap I posted a few days ago as the source, and I'm amazed how much has come out.

I used the guassian blur method on a second layer and then changed the blend mode to subtract, and then tweaked the curves and exposure.

I've no idea if this is the best method, but it seems to have worked for this, and it isn't even a proper picture!

It looks nice and bright, maybe cut back a bit on making the sky so black.

But that's just my thought, either way it's still a nice image.

That technique does work quite well another one you can try is basically the same but invert the mask layer and use the colour burn blend mode sometimes one works better than the other.
