Advanced VX mount / C9.25?

Recommended Posts

Strange question but has anyone tried this combo?

if so how manageable is it... Could it be left set up in the extension and quickly carried out through a double patio door down 2 steps?

I manage my 150 Mak on an EQ5 like this but realise the celestron combo will be a bit heavier?

cheers for looking

I wouldn´t try that to be honest. The C9.25 is a long OTA for that aperture SCT and around 8-9kg in weight alone.

The Advanced VX is quite a bit heavier than the regular EQ5. The 2inch tripod (same as NEQ6 Pro) already weights 8kg.

Add the Mount of 8kg, two 5kg counterweights and you are looking at 9+8+8+10 = 35kg of total weight!

Not to mention holding it in such a way you can keep it balanced enough to get it through Your door, not mentioning down stairs.

Not Worth the risk. I would definitely carry the OTA and Mount seperately. It´s what? 2 mins extra work? I don´t think that´s Worth the risk, both for Your Health and financially (dropping the entire thing on the floor).

I did carry my C8 and CG5 around on more than one occasion, when I had it a couple years back. But it´s definitely not something I would repeat again. And that´s at least 10kg less weight.

So I really cannot imagine myself doing that With the Adv.VX + C9.25 for sure.

That's why I have C8 on EQ3 (with 1.75" steel legs) which is another 5kg or so less than yours!
