Thinking of having a crack at this

Ok.

I've said it before that my interest is visual observing...

But now thinking of "dabbling" with a compact camera and camera holder for some simple afocal pictures of the moon and planets. Don't get me wrong, this will just be a bit of fun and experimentation and won't be taken that seriously. I'm not the guy with the laptop, CCD and wires coming out of his ears.

I just wondered what sort of quality I could expect from such a simple set-up? Anyone willing to post a few afocal pics of the moon and planets?

The camera holder is cheap at about £30.00, but I shan't bother getting one if the pictures are going to very poor. But if anyone can convince me with some half decent pics, then I'll have a go myself...

I dabbled a little a long time ago.  Here are three of my pics - if you can identify the subjects, then I guess that will tell you something!

They were taken holding a vivicam5385 against the eyepiece of an ETX-80.

The moon seems to like this method, 1st photo is really good.  I'll get the camera holder and have a go!
