Powered USB hub or separate cables?

Ah yes, looking at the picture It looks like the last two ports can be powered by the power adaptor. The other 5 ports must take their power from the laptop. This means that only these last two ports can be used to extend the range past the USB2 limit. 

So I should put the cameras on the powered ports (5m total) and the mount on an unpowered port ((4.5m total)?

I guess it depends on which needs the most power. I would experiment with that setup and if you find the mount misbehaving you may have to try switching with a camera.  Theoretically you are working within the 16ft limit of USB2 anyway.
