First day under the Sun with the Astrozap.

Nice to get out with the Solar filter today. Only managed a quick 5 minutes before today. (lousy weather or at work).

The Sun was out for most of the day today so got some quality time observing the sunspots.

As other people have noted there is a nice one on the limb.

Could observe some granulation (albeit faint) of the suns surface which I wasn't expecting. If faculae are the white cracks on the surface, then they were visible in places too. Wish I had the equipment to take a half decent photo, but that will have to wait for another day.

A tip I got from this site about using the shadow of the scope to line up with the sun worked well.

Its just a shame the rest of the family were away today and missed it, oh well next time.

Congrats on your first session with the Astrozap

I find the shadow trick very useful too! I think I first saw it at the SGL star party. The white cracks are indeed faculae

Hope your family get a chance to join in the fun soon.
