Cpc 925 finderscope mounting

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just purchased a Celestron 925 CPC, love the scope but one minor irritation. One of the screws designed to hold the finderscope bracket has cross threaded very easily. Anyone else had a similar issue? My finderscope seems ok attached via the remaining screw but it's not ideal. I'm wary of trying to drill the screw out given where it sits!!!

Any ideas much appreciated :-)

To drill it you'd have to strip the whole scope down and remove the mirror - I wouldn't do that myself - it's far too big a job. But I guess you could try and tap it out manually to take a slightly larger screw - so long as it's not too big for the finder bracket. You'd need to get the right sized tapping kit for that.

But I can understand how you did it cos I'm a spot heavy handed with screws and bolts myself. The soft metal used in scopes has taught me to be much gentler lol. :)

(Maybe someone has a better idea.....)
