Possible to use skymax 90 as guider

Hi all, having took delivery of my 150 pds with a plan to start imaging, I was wondering if I could use my existing 90mm mak piggy backed as a guider rather than my 9x50 finder as originally planned

Is the focal length of the mak the only obstacle I have to overcome or should I stick with the finder route?

Any advice appreciated also tempted to go to a st80 or opticstar ar80 if the mak can't really fill the gap

Thanks philj, reassures me I'm not going mad when I was considering the idea ! I was worried at f12 that stars may not be as bright? Did you use a ccd camera with this to be able to boost the intensity of light capture due to the dimmer and smaller FOV?
