I think the Met-O are just keeping up with the Jones' or perhaps they've identified a new revenue stream?

Anyone with a commercial interest in "space weather" will already be getting the info they need from established sources. Quite likely the very same sources that the Met-O will use!

As for space buffs, we're already spoiled for choice for aurora forecasts!
