First Light Canon Rebel XT - Orion & Ursa Major

Recommended Posts

Had a chance last night to try out my new toy :D - a Canon Rebel XT (same spec as 350D). These shots were taken from the backgarden at ISO's of between 400 & 800 using the bulk standard 18-55mm lens that came bundled with the camera. Exposure times of 15 & 20 seconds used, with the camera on a static tripod. As i don't have a remote shutter cable release yet I used the timer function to trigger the shots.

Nice shot of Orion Roy with the constellations Canis Major, Lepus and the Hyades Cluster visible. Good contrast in the last shot too.

Thanks - Kevin,

For the last shot I did play around a bit in PS CS3 with the foreground brightness and contrast as I didn't want it dominating the picture.
