with my 50mm f1.8 II ef-s lens i tend to cheat.

flick my lens to autofocus, wait for that big large moon to come round, then

calibrate the lens, get the camera to focus the moon, then shoot a shot.

review and zoom in. its its nice and sweet i turn off autofocus

and leave it alone.

i have a tiny mark on my 50mm stating perfect focus on the moon. so it makes it more easy to swing left or right to adjust a tiny touch.

just touching the focus ring can shift the lens enough i found.

i also noticed alot of new lens units none L , do not have windows built in.

but the older EF lens type does , the original 50mm had a focus window, but the new ones they removed them.

i also own a 90-300mm canon ef. that is a little more easy on focus at longer lengths ( must manual focus )

and is my fave for shooting the moon on the 350D

Well I've just been having a play on BYE and I'm a bit miffed as to what's going on really. I pressed 'Frame and Focus' and the live view popped up but it had changes all the setting on the camera to 'Bulb' and 'ISO 12800' and image to 'RAW' and I couldn't seem to change that.

Admittedly this is my first time using it so I haven't got the foggyist what's going on and I was trying out in the front room.

I must say the delay from using usb is rather annoying....
