Jupiter - Rings And Noise

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted any topics on the forum, but I need a bit of help with Jupiter.

I captured several images at F/10 and F/20 through my 200p, with my DMK 21AU618.AS, and, particularly at f/20, I seem to get a lot of unusual effects.

20,000 subs taken, of which 5,000 used, with high gain.

And a sub, taken from the video

See what I'm talking about? There seems to be an error which causes a concentric circle effect. For some reason, I've only ever seen it on Jupiter-Saturn, the Moon, and the Sun (The only other objects I've photographed with my DMK) have all been fine.

Furthermore, there's a lot of noise, and at F/20 I am finding it difficult to get enough brightness from exposure alone, so would it be better to reduce the gain, at the cost of less subs, and a reduced framerate?

Any ideas? Anything I can do about it in editing software, or next time I try to snap Jupiter? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

David
