Most unusual and exotic images

I'm interested in what it is possible to image with amateur equipment and what unusual objects people have managed to image.

For example, it could be:

a ridiculously far away galaxy

something unusual, like a strange shaped galaxy

galaxy with jets

unusual planetary nebula

white dwarf star

supernova during bright phase

something really really small

something incredibly dim

something people rarely image from the Earth, as say it's technically difficult or challenging.

Post up your images, maybe with a description of what, why and how. I'm really interested in what can be achieved at the limits and what strange things are out there to be imaged...

I'd nominate Fabian Neyer as a man with an eye for the unexpected. http://www.starpointing.com/ccd/ngc869_ngc884large1.html

Or my friend Tom O'Donoghue who will take as long as it takes to bring normally separate images into a single mosaic at incredbible resolution. http://ollypenrice.smugmug.com/Photography/Widefield-images-including/i-pgrPmQ2/0/X3/Bubble%20to%20Cave%20LHaRGB%20sRGB%20Astro%2010-X3.jpg
