Upgrading from EQ3-2

Recommended Posts

This is follow up to August post. In London yesterday. Had very helpful chat with Widescreen Centre. Definately going for EQ5 Pro (can't quite push budget to HEQ5). Christmas present to self! Thanks for all earlier advice. Oh and have enjoyed reading and digesting Making Every Photon Count. Thanks for recommendation.

the EQ5 is a good upgrade from the EQ3-2 i had both for a little while when i was looking for a "grab n go" set up. i ended up keeping the EQ5 and adding the motors, it certainly is a lot bigger and more robust version of EQ3-2. i do use my C9.25 on it for planetary imaging its pushing it a little but its been ok so far.

Nice choice for a good all round mount. THe HEQ5 can be scary, it is a fair bit bigger and can be a little off putting.

Have fun setting it up. Just remember that Kings Lynn is East so your Long will be something like 000  25' E

Most of the rest of us are West.
