SW Focal Reducer x0.85 for ED80

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm looking into buying the SW x0.85 focal reducer/corrector (link) for my SW ED80 Pro but I'm not sure how much I would benefit from it exposure wise.

Does it halve (sort of) the exposure time going from f/7.5 to f/6.3?

My setup is as follows: 1100D > T-Ring > TS Camera Adaptor 40mm (link) > 2" Filter > ED80.

If I place the Reducer/Corrector between the 2" filter and ED80, would that work or would I not get focus anymore?

Totally have no clue so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Cheers!

I'm not sure with that specific one but with mine it screws right into the T-adapter on my 450D. Yous should be able to achieve focus with everything attached. It would be at the same spot before you added the reducer but you'll be able to achieve focus. It does bring the f/ratio from 7.5 to 6.3 which will be a big improvement. You will be able to get a lot more data with the same length of exposure.
