Tesco weights

Recommended Posts

Hey hey

Got some of these http://www.tesco.com/direct/one-body-3kg-2-x-15kg-pair-of-adjustable-anklewrist-weights/212-3496.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=212-3496 to act as counter weights for my scope. Not much use for a 7 ft Dob but if you have a smaller scope (maybe up to about 120mm diameter) these wrap round nicely and secure with a wide strong velcro strap. You can secure them nice and tight so there is no slippage and I've found they enhance the action of the dew strip on the primary too as they form a sort of protective insulating blanket 160mm long.

Oh, and the weights are removable individually (five x 375g on each) and there are 2 in a box so I have one for DSLR + filter wheel and one for webcam + filter wheel.

give em a try, bargain at seven and a half squids.

cheers

Suppose they could be used to weigh down the tripod legs on a less sturdy mount !!!?

Have been using some Tesco ring (Bar bell type ) weights for that purpose. £10 for a 5kg. Fixed it to the shelf of my AZ mount. Helped to stop vibration.
