Firewire cable dmk21 au618as

Hi all trying to track this cable down of amazon fire wire cable ,if you could point me that way i need one ,heres two images one for the back of the dmk and the firewaire port on the laptop

Hi Pat,

According to the Imaging Source website and your picture the DMK21AU618 is a USB2.0 monochrome camera, not FireWire 1394-400.

You need a standard USB 2.0 A-to-B cable up to a maximum 5m length.

For reliable operation its a good idea to look for a cable with gold plated contacts and only as long as absolutely necessary, 3m long should be plenty.

If you are in the UK then a suitable 3.0m cable is available with gold plated contacts from Maplin, order code LO1BT for around £9.00 or a 5m cable, LO2BT for around £12.00.

You can find cheap USB 2.0 A-to-B cables on Amazon as well but I can't advise any particular one as quality or contact material is unknown.

Poor quality cables can cause data drop out or camera lock-up on USB self-powered cameras so it is worth investing in a good quality cable.

Thanks just ordered the maplins one ,its strange the astro shop who i got it off tried to sell me one for it i sent them the same pics has i posted here i think from now on,i shall change shops
