EQ5 mount capacity

This company are advertising a load capacity of 17kg for their EQ5 mount but i have already been advised on this forum that my scope (europa 10" f4.8 ota weight 10kg) would be pushing the limits of an eq5, but with a capacity of 17kg it seems well within the mounts limits or are they being a little over optimistic. Your opinions please :?

I think they're being a little more than optimistic! I wouldn't stick 17 Kilos of expensive gear on it to test their claims.

I notice they're only providing one counterweight with it...

Is this for visual or imaging?

A 10kg Newt would be more for a HEQ5 load type capacity.

Personally i wouldnt go past 6-7kg on a CG5.

V good mount for its price but doesnt have a load capacity pusing 10kg IMO.

Edit: just had a look at the ad, it does look sturdy, not a CG5, probably a Chinese copy probably upgraded.

Still wouldn't take 17kg!

The rule of thumb for imaging capacity is half the visual capacity. I think Vixen give the imaging capacity though....a 10" Newt is more than enough for a EQ5/ CG5.
