Hi All

I got the celestron starter eyepiece and filter set and with the exception of the moon filter i'm not sure what filter to use where (red,orange,blue) i have tried them all on the moon and planets but not sure what to be looking for any advice or pointers to other sources of info greatly appreciated.

The ones that work best for me are the yellow, looking at Mars, Jupiter or Saturn, by slightly increasing the contrast on the surface of the planets. I have also found that both the green and the orange filters improve the contrast on the Moon when it is full or near-full.
