Bit of a classic ?

No idea - but I've put it on my watch list!!

What would something like that cost new on today's market?

Difficult to say as there is not much to that specification available these days. They cost around £1K when new I think but that was 20-25 years back. I think it would appeal to the classic achromatic refractor enthusiast.

ouch. That's a lot of dollar

Scopes were expensive back then and choice was limited. The market today is awash with really low cost, decent scopes so it's a great time to enter the hobby

The ad is wrong , in that it's not a fullerscopes 4 inch refractor

Fullerscopes reftactors were never fitted with irving focusers unless it's an aftermarket adition , and didn't have machined alloy lens cells .

This one looks very reminiscent of beacon hill telescopes refractors , And is still a nice scope
