A battle in the wind

Just to show how pants the weather is down here, this an image of Mars from last night. Best of 1400 frames with the ATIK camera, IR filter and 4 x Imagemate Amplifier.

I have this sneaking suspicion that it will sail blithely past opposition and the conditions will have the last laugh. Happened with Saturn last year when I had no clear skies at all for a month around opposition.

Aint this a wonderful hobby.

It can be a frustratung hobby, Geoff. But when the skies are clear and the weather cold and crisp - it seems very rewarding. Sometimes the bad times just make the good times better. Mars will come around again - so bide your time and you will get those images.

Good result Geoff, you have to be happy with it. We just hope the lousy weather goes away at the right time, and everyone gets a good few sessions on the planet.
