Colour Video Cameras

I have noticed that Mintron do colour video cameras in the same format as their mono models. Has anyone used these - there seem to be a 1/3 and 1/2 models and the 1/3 costs less than the 1/2 mono.

I remember Bern saying a few months ago he wasn't impressed with the colour integrating cameras avaliable, but I'm not sure if it was these models he was referring to or if they are newer kit??

I've tried the 1/2" Exview Mintron colour camera and it didn't compare very well with the Mono for deep sky viewing. I suppose for brighter objects with a big fast scope it might be OK.

The Exview cams are about twice as sensitive as the non Exview and the 1/2" cams are about twice as sensitive as the 1/3" so the 1/2" Exview is worth the extra dosh in my book.

Someone told me that the Mallincam hyper colour was very good. Are they and are they available?

The Mallincams are heavily modded Mintrons and produce better results but the image quality isn't as good as the Watec 120N+

I don't like the colour rendition, but if you must have colour then that's the way to go.............. at a price!
