Problems with DSS comet Mode

Recommended Posts

I have no clue, but I think for people to help a little more information would be nice.

Subject, Focal Length, Set Up, Number of Subs, Darks Flats? Stacking settings used in DSS. THe more you can give the better people can help.

OMG I forgot about this! So sorry I didn't answer. Thanks Ras Skipper, I'll have to look at this when I'm at home and have time (poss observing tonight and weekend!) then I'll be able to see your image more clearly and answer questions.

It was 20 subs at 90 secs and 12 darks. I left DSS to do its own stuff after I clicked the core of the comet on each sub in comet mode. It was taken with my Megrez on the HEQ5 Pro mount. Unguided. That's all I can tell you! Here's a single JPEG sub, unprocessed.

I finally realised I had to save each sub after selecting the core, duh! It helps to read the instructions properly! But now I have an awful mess. I stretched the image quite a bit and a little noise reduction but nothing else. There's the cloud lower left which I can't do anything about. But look at the noise and the dark dot in the centre of the stars! I wonder if the latter is that it wasn't in focus. I stacked RAW images. It's awful! Any suggestions?
