Dont be put off.... having bought uncollimated bresser binos

Recommended Posts

Hi all SGL buddies

Having bought a pair of 10x50 bresser binos, I found them to be slightly out of collimation. You will know this by seeing slightly a double image.

If you alternately close one eye to another, the view of the subject you are looking at will be in different positions. ( I guess most of binocular users know this ).

However.... those that do no know, do not worry if you get home after purchasing, here's a simple fix:

Towards the back, on the handgrips you will find 2 grub screws ( 1 on each side ). They are hidden under the rubber grips ( this goes for most, if not all binoculars ).

Peel back the rubber and you will find them either on top or below. Make very fine adjustments one at a time, checking after each turn by focusing on a distant subject.

Once you are happy with the result you will have to glue the rubber edges back down.

Hope this have helped those, who would be put off buying a pair that thought were unusable.

Gary

Some adjust via the prisms, but on some binos colimation is done with locking eccentric rings on the objective lens. On these, the prisms are likely to be secured permanently. Take care!
