Help with tripod adapter

I have this Bushnell spacemaster 60mm scope but it does not seem to work with either a 1/4 or a 3/8 adapter to a tripod.

The thread seems very slightly smaller than the 3/8 thread.

Any ideas. Is there another American vintage size?

The scope seems to be of a very good standard optically!

Could be 9 or 10mm?? As 3/8" is 9.525mm and easily confused with 10mm.

Hmm. I have got a thread from a bolt in to it and the bolt has a diameter of 7mm, just over 2/8ths of an inch and 8 threads per cm or about 20 per inch!

I suspect someone must have tampered with the thread?

It might be possible to cut a 3/8 - 16 threads hole if I was an expert in metal work?

How "meaty" id the are around the thread ..? Is it in a casting or is it a "bush" in a thinner part of the scope body..? Piccy?

Thanks for the post. Here's a pic. Perhaps creating a new 1/4 20 hole might be a good bet?

Theres no pic showing.. but if it's a casting or foot then a new 1/4"-20UNC or 1/4" BSW hole is the way forward... Both would work...

Solved..local engineer put in a 7mm bolt and cut a 1/4 inch 20 thread...." Lovely

Nice one... I'm lucky enough to have my own machine tools so have done similar in the past...
