Wide angle lense?

Hi all

I'm wanting to start to take wide angle shots of the night sky, however I don't know where to start about a wide angle lense for a canon 1000D if anyone can suggest any or give me somewhere to look It would be helpful

I used to have the Canon 11-22 lens which was pretty good for wide field, but I believe the Sigma 11-22 lens is also very good.

Tokina 11-16mm you won't believe how sharp it is. The older version is always on sale and just not the new fancy coatings for flaring not much difference if at all i have tried both.
