Beautiful Betelgeuse

I don't know if being lower on the horizon made it a warmer color tonight but Betelgeuse was a stunning red! Wonderful sight and was a direct contrast of color to the Castor double blue stars. Sirius was low and twinkling so I had a look in that direction too. The first look was out of focus as I had changed EPs and the concentric circles were snapping and popping red and blue like a neon sign! Must be the atmospherics at that level but that was a sight to behold.

The Moon was a great view tonight as well and seemed crystal clear. Impressed enough to get the wife and the 14 year old son out for a look! Not a bad little tour for a work night and think I might have been lucky in dodging the clouds. Clear skies.
