Nipon eyepieces & barlows

Hi all. Just a quickie. Are Nipon eyepieces & barlows any good?

I've seen them for sale on e.bay. From what I've seen they are just re-branded low cost chinese items. Nothing special at all.

When you say 're-branded' can you say any more. It is that one of my colleagues at work purchased a Skywatcher 200P dobsonian about christmas time last year (2012) from FLO and wants to purchase some other eyepieces and a barlow (or a complete set in a case). I have recommeded he buys individual eyepieces...

...by the way my eyepieces are TeleVue.

I'd recommend individual eyepieces too. On a budget the Vixen NPL's are pretty good or the much discussed BST Explorers / Starguiders.

The Nippon stuff I've seen on e.bay just does not seem to have any quality about it.

Re-branding is a fairly common practice where something is mass-produced and the retailers ask the packaging to be slightly changed. For instance, I doubt there is any difference between one supermarket's cheapest branded baked beans and the other, the tin is just different.
