can i use skyliner 200 dobsonian tube with EQ5/HEQ5 GOTO MOUNT

Hi can i use skyliner 200 dobsonian tube on a equatorial EQ5/HEQ5 GOTO MOUNT my wife wants to try astrophotograpy..

Any help much appreciated..

You can certainly mount the OTA onto an equatorial mount. Just need tube rings and a dovetail, which last time I looked cost around £60.

No idea about AP though...sorry

You can, as twotter says. The HEQ5 would be a better choice as it's a bit marginal on the EQ5. For the extra money it will make life much more pleasant.

If you want to go down the AP route one of the first things to invest in is a copy of Steve Richards book "Making Every Photon Count" available through FLO see top of page, I would certainly get hold of a copy before you come to any decision on equipment, although what James has recommended is the better of the two mounts
