My first decent images

Recommended Posts

After a long period of preparation, purchasing bits and pieces, and testing... I finally wen out last night (while it was clear) for a couple of hours and I think I now dare to post two of the images I took.

First one is 10x90 sec (unguided) shots stacked in DSS with 5 darks, flats, and bias. (trying to minimize the light pollution I think I killed all the M42 colors!)

Second one is a single 90sec exposure of Pleiades.

any notes / advised / comments are welcome and appreciated.

Now I need to think about modding my 450D!

Very nice crisp shots. I like the stars, especially the Pleiades. I am not an expert, but because of the nice stars, it seems to me that some longer exposures would be possible and would bring out some more of the nebulosity, and of course more exposures would reduce the noise. You could experiment with different ISOs and exposure times.
